Fair Frenzy! 

The Annual Daviess County Lions Club Fair

             July is a time when families are enjoying the hot sun, spending quality time together and looking for exciting activities to do. Well one of those exciting activities to share as a family is the Annual Daviess County Lions Club Fair. Taking place July 11th to the 19th, each member of the family is sure to find something enjoyable.

            The fair kicks off on Friday the 11th with the Miss Daviess County Pageant at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Baby Contest at 10:00 a.m., Toddlers Contest at 1:00 p.m. and the Miss Teen Pageant at 7:00 p.m., all provide an opportunity for all of our beauties to strut their stuff on stage for a chance to win a crown. All Pageants will take place at Daviess County High School. Also, the Little Mr. & Miss Pageant on will be held on Wednesday the 16th at 7:00 pm in Bittel Hall at the fair grounds.

fair 4.jpg            We soon get back to the quaint county fair vibe with the start of the 4-H showings and displays. First up is the Lamb, Sheep & Goat Show on Sunday the 13th at 4 p.m. The 4-H Horse show trots into action on Monday the 14th at 6 p.m., along with Calf exhibitions on Tuesday the 15th at 5 p.m. and the Dairy Show on Wednesday the 16th at 7 p.m. The Hog showings wrap up the 4-H animal contests on Thursday the 17th at 2 p.m.  Let’s not forget the hard work of those 4-H’ers presenting projects and displays through out the fair. Those projects range from photography to baking to sewing - what talent!

Moving on to the other exciting fair activities: the Moto Cross race kicks off the next portion of the fun on Monday the 14th, at 7:00 p.m. 4-Wheel and ATV Mud Sling competitions launch into action at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday the 15th and Wednesday the 16th.            Go-Cart racing speeds into play on the 16th as well. Next up - the always exhilarating Demolition Derby & Rollover Contest delights fans on Thursday the 17th at 7:30 pm.. Friday (the 18th) and Saturday (the 19th) nights hosts the most thrilling action of the fair: the Championship Truck & Tractor Pulls at 7:30 pm!

            If all of that excitement wasn’t enough, add to it the enjoyment of carnival rides, games, and delicious fair food through out the entire week!

            Each year, the Lions Club puts on a first-rate event for everyone and this year is no exception! Don’t miss this opportunity for some good ol’ family fun!
