C4 The General
It’s 16 bars ya’ll, and it’s time to talk to one of the hottest young producers in the area.
It’s MaxB y’all…
MB: Love of music led me to a place where I wanted to create it. You know the whole song.
Do you remember the first song you produced?
"Who Ya Talkin To?" for Keenan A.K.A. Katastrophy
Who else have you worked with?
gator9 (Eville and WillC), Laudi, Loc The Great, Hard Head Ent., WillP, Killa Go, Gotti, Mellow, me, and the list goes on…

Who’s your dream production collab?
Justin Timberlake.
Really? Why?
MB: He’s on top of the world. The top of his game. He makes
everything hot… For real. I don’t give a damn. I saw his
American
Idol auditions? Did you meet Simon?
No, but I did meet Nigel from So You Think You Can Dance in the elevator, and that’s what made me audition for that show.
You’ve recorded your own album, produced
countless others, danced on stage, and in videos, you’ve been on Youtube, and
TV, what the hell could you want to do next?
Be a better more successful R&B artist.
How does being a producer help that?
It helps a lot!!! Are you kidding?... It opens doors for a production deal, which leads to a bigger better album.
Sorta like Ne-Yo?
Ne-Yo, Timbaland, The Dream, Pharrell, the list goes on ya dig?
What’s the secret to creating a hot
beat?
You need a little M-1 sauce which consists of a little bit of Timbo, a little bit of Neptunes, some Scott Storch shakers, a little synth, heavy drums, and a whole lotta MaxB, ya dig?
M-1?
My production company, M-1 Presents. Shout out to Ashley for lending her voice to the signature…
How do you feel about
"leasing" beats?
Not a fan of it. I’ve been a victim of it. It could be your best song, but if somebody else has it, it diminishes your work and that ain’t cool… If you’ve got a MaxB beat it’s yours ya dig?
We dig. You’ve just finished your first
album (After The Storm). It’s
written, produced, and sang by you. When does that bad boy drop?
Early February.
