Theatre Workshop of Owensboro offers two great opportunities to escape the summer heat and get your theatre fix this August by presenting two wonderful plays: the High school Youth production of Neil Simon’s God’s Favorite and a special production of Odd Hopper’s Opera as apart of the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden’s Big Bug Exhibit.

Directed by TWO Youth Drama Club veteran, Matthew Wills, the final production of their Youth Summer Series, God’s Favorite promises to be a highlight of your summer. Based on the Book of Job, this play will send you on a modern day journey as you watch a wealthy businessman and his family go through several trials and temptations. Add to it Neil Simon’s flair for comedy and this pay goes from potential tear jerker to side splitting.

Sponsored by Yeager Charitable Trust and Wills Animal Hospital, the production takes stage on Friday August 1st at 7 p.m., Saturday August 2nd at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and a Sunday matinee performance on August 3rd at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $5 to $15 for adults and students. For reservations, please call TWO box office at (270) 683-5353, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 1p.m.

On August 17th at 6 p.m., Odd Hopper’s Opera swarms in and takes over the Western Kentucky Botanical Gardens. Directed by TWO veteran, Thad Mayhew, and a fabulous cast of talented youth, this delightful children’s story will spring to life in a touching way. Donning “bug costumes” and reciting a “garden of verses” depicting a bug’s eye view of life in a garden, this play will be sure to bring a smile to your face.
