The most anticipated event of the winter season has arrived: RiverPark Center’s Winter Wonderland 2007!!! This jammed packed holiday festival lasts from November 23 through January 1…and you will not want to miss a single day of merriment! The entire riverfront really does turn into a “Winter Wonderland,” complete with a giant 35-foot Christmas tree, twinkling Christmas lights strewn everywhere, and that beautiful white powder- even if mother nature can’t provide, man will!

The highlight of this holiday extravaganza centers on “a New York Rockefeller Center-style giant Ice Rink!” For just five dollars (includes skate rental), you will have the opportunity to expand those skating skills and spin yourself into a state of delirium. A new feature added this year is, Beginning Blade sessions for children ages six and under. “Smaller skaters get special rink time during Beginning Blade sessions at Winter Wonderland 2007. Children 6 and under have designated ice-time with their parents to warm up their skating skills.  Crates are available for assistance on the ice and other than parents, no one over the age of 6 is allowed on the rink during Beginning Blade time.”

As a reminder: Mondays are FREE skate days! Donations are accepted instead, but not required, with all proceeds going to benefit the Salvation Army.

If Ice Skating is not your thing, no worries, there is still plenty to enjoy at Winter Wonderland 2007! A giant movie screen showing your favorite holiday movies entertains those young and old. Live music and Tin Lizzie car rides along the Ohio River serve to entertain those who want to relax and get away from all the hustle and bustle. For those seeking something a bit more exciting the Dragon Roller Coaster, Ferris wheel, Tilt-a-whirl, and a musical Christmas carousel spice things up! There will also be various snow activities, including the Bunny Slope, and of course Santa Claus!! What holiday event would be complete without the jolly man, himself!

If you need to take a break from all the outside activity and warm up a bit, step into the RiverPark Center’s lobby area for some live entertainment provided by various local choral and musical groups.

Concessions will also be available, serving up yummies such as hot dogs, nachos, cookies, funnel cakes, cotton candy, hot chocolate, and your favorite holiday spirits!

Named a Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event and a Kentucky Tourism Council Top 10 Winter Event, this is one holiday festival you do not want to miss! Presented by OMHS, Texas Gas, and the Kentucky Department of Tourism, you can rest assure all of Owensboro will gather together down at the riverfront to celebrate the season!
