• February 8: Glema Mahr Center for the Arts, Madisonville – The Children’s Sleeping Beauty. Presented by the fine team at the Children’s Center for Dance Education in Evansville. The Children’s Sleeping Beauty, an hour-long adaptation of the classic ballet, is designed to engage even the youngest child with the use of bright costumes and lively choreography. • February 13: RiverPark Center – Lord of the Dance. Described by the New York Post as "fascinating, rewarding and above all, entertaining," and by the Los Angeles Times as "a showpiece extravaganza," Lord of the Dance is a mesmerizing blend of traditional and modern Celtic music and dance. The story is a classic tale of good vs. evil based on old Irish folklore as Don Dorcha, the Dark Lord, challenges the Lord of the Dance. It is also a passionate love story that is expressed through dance numbers that transport audiences into a mystical and exhilarating world of intense passion. The action is played out over 21 scenes, on a grand scale of precision dancing, dramatic music, colorful costumes and state-of-the-art staging and lighting. • November 17: Downtown Owensboro – Annual Christmas Parade. Selected in 2004 as one of the Top Ten events in Kentucky and one of the Top Twenty events by the Southeast Tourism Council, this parade is the largest Christmas parade in Kentucky and the tri-state area. 2007 will be the 71^st year for the parade. The theme is “That Magical Christmas Feeling.” Begins at 4:30 p.m.
