Hey Tri-Staters! I'll waste no time in exploring one of Owensboro's
Favorite eateries, Z's!

Located in the Cigar Factory Mall (1100 Walnut St.) Z's serves up some of the city's finest and most popular cuisine. I grabbed Ms. Bonnie and we drove over to Z's on Saturday evening. I had been tipped off that the bar was a great place to hang and eat. We grabbed a table in the bar area and our waitress Sarah quickly greeted us and took our drink order. In addition to some serious food, Z's has a great wine list and a huge selection of Martinis (over 20 varieties).

We had a hard time deciding what to order. The menu includes great appetizers, some great steaks, and delicious seafood entrees as well. Lucky for us, Saturday evening appetizers are half price until 7:00 p.m. We decided to start with two of those. Scallops (bacon wrapped, deep fried) served with a great savory Jack Daniels Sauce. They were great! I tried the Garlic/Jalapeno shrimp toast – a great spicy dish with tiger shrimp, onions, mushrooms & jalapenos sautéed in garlic cream and set atop Texas Toast. Delicious BUT a bit spicy (I love spicy). Two great selections.

You may want to select one of the great entrees like 12oz Prime Rib (au jus) Rib eye or a Filet. How about European style Quail!! The special this evening was the bone in Pork Chops. A blackened Tilapia w/ Creole Shrimp Sauce is my cuz Mike's favorite. You may like the California Tuna, which is an 8oz Sashimi grade fillet. There are also Pasta & Poultry dishes as well as hearty soup and salad selections too. Next trip I'll try the shrimp stuffed Manicotti or The Chicken Parmesan.

Z's is open Monday thru Saturday and serves great lunches too. I almost forgot the deserts. You must try the Lava Cake or Derby Pie. I recommend you call ahead to reserve a table. Every table was taken the night we visited! So visit Z's and Eat, Drink, and Enjoy. You're sure to see friends there and watch for some exciting new menu items in April.
